Xander and I have made our bi-monthly track into SickKids for a check up today.
We just got his blood work done and he didn’t bat an eye. He never ceases to amaze me!!! I am so very proud to be his Mum:))
The boys and I are so excited for the good weather, that we just had to get out and enjoy it!!!
We took out bikes and a picnic and headed down to the path along the lake. We had a fantastic afternoon of riding and hiking down to the lake to throw rocks.
When the adventures were over, we picked a spot to have our picnic, spread out our blanket and got busy eating!!!
Half way through our meal, Ethan takes my sunglasses off and puts them on himself and says…
“I’m all up in the club, looking so dough!” Lol
I very gently told him that the word he was trying to use should be DOPE! lol
But he wasn’t wrong – he looks both dope and dough:)
Xander, Ethan and I had just had a lovely dinner together. I was in the kitchen cleaning up and Xander asked me if he could have an ice cream for desert.
I said sure, so he went to the freezer and got an ice cream out. As the door to the freezer was closing, Ethan said “Xan, can you get me one too?” To which my oldest child replied, “I’m sorry but the door is closed.”
Can you believe that! The door is closed!! He was still standing right next to the fridge, but apparently once the door to the fridge is closed, it is closed forever!!!
As I’ve mentioned, we spent March break at the cottage up north. The boys had a blast – they love playing with all of their cousins, especially their 18 month old cousin – William. When it came time to leave the cottage, this conversation took place:
Xander said, “Mum, can we bring William home with us?”
No hun, we can’t.
Ethan says, “Awww :(“
Xander leans down and whispers something in his ear.
I say, “What was that?”
Ethan says, “Xander said don’t worry – that you are going to grow us another one!” (meaning a baby)
To which I reply, “Um – I don’t think so honey.”
Ethan, “Why Mum, cause you growed us already?”
Yeah – that sounds about right to me!
The truth is that I would love another baby. But me being home with the kids means that we are down one income, and kids – well they are expensive:)
So for now I am thrilled with the 2 I have! I really do adore these boys!
But if we hit the lottery one day soon – I’ll have a gaggle!
Xander lost another tooth on Monday! This is tooth#3. So you know what that means – the Tooth Fairy visited us that night:)
I’ll let you in on an embarrassing secret… The Tooth Fairy often gets lost on the way to our house. Sometimes the tooth can stay under the pillow for a couple days before the tooth fairy finds her way here. Oh the shame!
Having said this, when Xander woke up yesterday morning – he completely forgot to check. At breakfast, we asked him if the Tooth Fairy came – he said ‘Oh shoot, I forgot.’
Ethan then started to whine about the fact that the Tooth Fairy has never come to visit him and he never gets any money! While Alex was explaining to him, again, that the Tooth Fairy brings $$ in exchange for a TOOTH, Xander snuck upstairs (unbeknownst to us) and did the most selfless thing imaginable for a 7 yr old…
He came back downstairs and said to Ethan ‘E – lets go get dressed.’
Then Ethan came downstairs happy as a clam, because the Tooth Fairy had visited him. HIM, Ethan – the boy who has not yet lost a tooth.
Xander took his tooth money and put it under his brother’s pillow.
***Melt my heart****
You don’t know my son – but Xander giving away money, is the equivalent of a man dying of thirst, giving away his last drop of water!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I really believe that all this kid has been through (with his illness) has made him the kindest, most empathetic person I know.
Needless to say – he ended up getting double the $$ from Mum & Dad, because we were so proud of him:) God, I love this kid!
I’m a little late with this post, I should have gotten in up yesterday. But better late than never, right? This weekend was Ethan’s 5th birthday party, and it was a BIG hit! We had so much fun!
I can’t tell you how happy I am to have this party over with. It was a LOT of work, but it was worth it in the end – my son thought it was AWESOME (his words)! Which is all that really matters:)
Hope your weekend was great too!
Today is my baby’s 5th birthday! That is so hard for me to believe. It seems like it was just yesterday that I snuck onto a plane 8 & 1/2 months pregnant, because I had to get my 2 yr old to Rainbow Babies hospital in Ohio. So my Barbadian conceived baby was born in the middle of a blizzard in Ohio in February.
You turned 5 today, your older brother let you know that this now means that you are elderly!
Your Gramma & Manti were here for your birthday and Papa is coming up for your birthday party. This year you have requested that your birthday party be a Mario theme – which I happily obliged. The party will be on Saturday, and you’re having 14 friends over – should be fun!
You woke up this morning and opened your presents. You got a lot of nice presents, but the one you loved the best was Mario Galaxy 2. Unfortunately, you had school:) and then tennis practise after school.
You then talked us in to McDonald’s for dinner, WITH a happy meal toy and dessert. I think it was altogether a pretty great day!
These are the things that matter the most to you right now:
Favourite Video Game – Super Mario Galaxy and Real Steel
Favourite Line-filler – “You Know What? I love you”
Favourite Clothes – Comfy clothes! sweat pants and shirt
Favourite Sood – Oatmeal
Favourite Stuffed Animals – Mario, Luigi, Puppy, Toad and an Angry bird
Favourite Song – Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
Favourite Movie – Real Steel
Favourite Saying – “Guess what Mum? I’m sexy and I know it!”
Favourite Day – staying in PJs all day playing games and napping
Best friend – Camden and Max
All in all – you are a pretty great kid! Your Dad & I love you so very much and are very proud to be your parents.
Happy Birthday Baby!
We decorated our tree over the last few nights. I love doing that as a family – it’s magical. The Christmas music blaring, the boys happy & laughing… it really is the best:) But the thing I love most about this time of year is the traditions, and getting to pass along the traditions my parents gave me, onto my own family.
